Calgary to host Global Clean Energy Congress & Exhibition November 1-3, 2011

Meetings & Conventions Calgary (MCC) is pleased to announce its support of Calgary Economic Development and dmg events in securing the inaugural Global Clean Energy Congress and Exhibition to take place at Stampede Park from November 1-3, 2011. The event is the first large-scale, city-wide conference to be secured since the fall 2009 creation of MCC – the organization responsible for marketing Calgary as a prime destination for meetings, conventions and incentive programs.

Calgary was chosen to host this event because its prominence as a major center for the North American oil and gas industry, and also because of its strength in facilitating emerging clean energy practices, research and development, application and integration of technologies.

"Calgary is more than ideally equipped to host an event of this type and scale," said Peter Gregus, Managing Director of Meetings & Conventions Calgary. "As a center for energy and a dynamic center for business, Calgary not only has the infrastructure, but also the global connections to be able to attract the expected 4,000 attendees from around the world, as well as over 500 congress delegates from over 200 exhibiting companies."

In addition to high-profile keynote speakers, the three-day conference will cover topics such as:

  • Supply and Demand – past, present and future
  • Fuels and Generation – past, present and future
  • Infrastructure & Supply Chain Optimization – monitoring and optimizing energy delivery
  • Health and Environment – quantifying the benefits
  • Investment and Financing – investing in innovation and financing commercialization

About Meetings & Conventions Calgary

MCC was established through a partnership between the Calgary Hotel Association, Calgary TELUS Convention Centre and Tourism Calgary. We operate as a destination sales and marketing organization with a mandate to assist meeting planners, corporate clients and association executives interested in Calgary as a prime location for their meetings, conventions and incentive programs. Because MCC is mandated by Calgary's hotels and venues themselves, event planners have direct access to suppliers without the added step of dealing with each facility individually.
